2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E bows in the USA

Ford has unveiled the Mustang Mach-E facelift for the current model year, landing the electric SUV with a vastly improved powertrain and better range in all trims.

Starting with the motors, the one at the rear axle now weighs less while generating more torque. The specific numbers aren’t yet available, but Ford says that all Mach-E variants will benefit from this improved engine.

Those looking to squeeze even more thrust out of the powertrain may opt for a new package called Performance Upgrade. It is a software tune that adds 136 Nm (100 pound-feet) to the peak torque. The range-topping Rally Edition will have it preinstalled, while the GT trim will feature it as a $995 option.

The “unleashed” Mach-E can sprint from zero to 96.6 km/h (60 mph) in 3.3 seconds – 0.2 seconds faster than the fastest Tesla Model Y Performance on the market. It’s also the best result for the Mach-E model so far. Ford says it also completes a quarter-mile run in 11.8 seconds, reaching 296 km/h (184 mph) towards the end.

Driving ranges have improved by 32 km (20 miles) all around. This means that the entry-level Mach-E now has 402 km (250 miles) on a charge and the Long Range version has 515 km (320 miles). Charging the battery from 10 to 80 percent takes 20% less time than before and succeeds in 32 or 36 minutes depending on the specific battery type installed.
