Ford may have taken its time revealing its new extreme supercar, but the result proved well worth the wait. Enter the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500, Ford’s most powerful mass-produced vehicle on offer.
According to the official specs, the muscle car comes equipped with a 5.2-liter turbocharged V8 engine capable of 760 horsepower (567 kilowatts) along with 847 Newton-meters (625 pound-feet) of maximum torque as long as it uses sufficiently high-octane fuel. The company claims its V8 design is the best performer in the entire world, with the gorgeous McLaren 720S lagging 50 hp (37 kW) and the iconic Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 110 hp (82 kW) behind.
Aside from groundbreaking performance, the supercar will offer sophisticated aerodynamics, excellent steering and flawless gear switching courtesy of an automatic transmission – at least, that’s what the manufacturer claims. Sprint times remain unannounced, but Ford does mention that the top speed will be artificially capped at 290 km/h (180 mph).
