This drag race between the Ford Shelby GT500 and the Ram 1500 TRX is decidedly worth a watch even if you are not a fan of the genre. There is an important lesson to be learned from it, too.
The mighty Dodge Ram 1500 TRX makes use of a 6.2-liter HEMI V8 dialed up to 712 PS (702 hp / 524 kW) and 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission hits the wheels with enough power to take the behemoth 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.5 seconds.
Shelby’s Ford GT500 uses a 5.2-liter V8 good for 770 PS (759 hp / 566 kW) and 847 Nm (625 lb-ft). A seven-speed DCT drives the rear wheels, letting the ‘Stang launch in mere 3.5 seconds.
