Tuned Ford Mustang shows off hypercar-like acceleration skills

It is far from coincidental that the eight-banger powering the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is known as The Predator, hitting the wheels with 771 PS (760 hp / 567 kW) and 848 Nm (625 lb-ft) of torque. Still, tuners like Hennessey Performance just won’t leave well enough alone.

The Texan tuner has replaced a great deal of the powertrain, overhauling the entire fuel system, changing the drive belt, the air/oil separator and the exhaust system just to name a few. In the end, the Mustang – which was nicknamed ‘Venom’ – slammed the dual-clutch transmission with 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 746 kW) and 1,152 Nm (850 lb-ft) of torque burning E85 fuel. Of course, the transmission needed reinforcements to cope with the load.

In the published video, the Venom goes out for a test drive on the track and instantly proves that it is now closer to a full-blown hypercar than anything in terms of raw acceleration performance. Many would call it overkill and even dangerous given the rear-wheel drive, but diehard Mustang fans will know to appreciate the tuning.
