Clive Sutton Tuning works its magic on the Ford Mustang GT

If you happen to be looking for a more interesting alternative to the Mustang Shelby GT500, check out this example by Clive Sutton.

The British tuner has managed to outperform the Cobra-badged muscle car by fitting the five-liter V8 of the GT with a Whipple supercharger, an intercooler, a Quad Active XFORCE exhaust system, and a chip tune. The result amounted to 859 PS (847 hp / 632 kW) and 902 Nm (665 lb-ft) of torque.

Interestingly enough, the company paired it up with a six-speed manual transmission with shortened gear ratios and rear-wheel drive, rather than the usual seven-speed DCT. No acceleration numbers are provided, but given that a normal GT500 runs 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, this one should be a touch faster.

On the outside, you will tell the custom Mustang CS850GT from its stock counterpart by its 20-inch Vossen wheels, a revised front fascia with LED headlights, and a full aerodynamic kit made of carbon fiber. Overall, we’d say the styling is more restrained than that of the GT500 – but this could be viewed as an advantage, too.

Found inside are a metallic engine start button, an aluminum shift stick, Recaro sport seats, and a Sutton Performance wheel. Should the buyer want a full makeover, the company will oblige, using generous amounts of leather and Alcantara with contrast stitching and carbon fiber details.

Obtaining your own Mustang CS850GT in Great Britain is a matter of having £115,000 to spare, more than twice the European sticker of the Shelby GT500
