Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 no longer available in carbon fiber

Ford confirmed to Motor1.com that the Shelby GT500 spec of the Mustang is no longer purchasable with the optional Carbon Fiber Handling Package.

Note that the discontinued option pack is different from the Handling Package and the Carbon Fiber Track Package, both of which are still available. The Carbon Fiber Handling kit only debuted this year and cost $10,000. It included 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels finished black, splitters and other aero trim pieces. The production run was strictly limited, so it should not be surprising that it is no longer on sale.

The Carbon Fiber Track Pack is considerably more expensive at $18,500 and comes with 20-inch lightweight rims, carbon fiber interior trim, bucket seats, no rear seats, splitters, and Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 rubber.

Those who missed their opportunity to buy the package may look forward to the Heritage Edition spec coming to the market next year (featured in our gallery and the video here).
