Piloting a muscle car as sharp and agile as the Ford Mustang takes some skill, and the same applies to an even greater extent to its high-end versions, such as the Shelby GT lineup. Still, Hennessey Performance doesn’t look like it will give a damn if you prove no match for that power.
The ride shown in the video is called “Venom 1000”, and it is essentially a Shelby GT500 tuned by Hennessey from its already formidable 771 PS (760 hp / 567 kW) to 1,012 PS (1,000 hp / 745 kW). The torque goes from 847 Nm (625 lb-ft) to 1,152 Nm (850 lb-ft). Notable modifications include the intercooler, the drive belt and the cooling bricks, while the supercharger and the RWD transmission stay stock. This, and car can now accept either gasoline or E85 for fuel.
As you can see in the video, the Venom 1000 is not formidable on the track – it is downright scary. Considering how many stock ‘Stangs end up totaled, we hope none of these monsters get into incompetent hands, ever.
