When you think about American muscle cars using a supercharged V8, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and the new CT5-V Blackwing immediately come to mind. Which one is faster on the drag strip?
While one is a sedan and the other is a coupe, the two vehicles are nearly identical in terms of power and acceleration. To differentiate between the two, the video puts an interesting twist on the drag race: the drivers must do a quarter-mile run, turn around, and return as soon as possible. The start line is therefore also the finish line.
Purely on paper, the Shelby GT500 inches out the CT5-V Blackwing in terms of power, but yields to it in terms of torque. The Mustang is also heavier than the CT5-V, but only marginally so.
