Shelby American and Hertz have worked together to tune a handful of Ford Mustang cars beyond their usual market specs, with some examples heading to Hertz rental stations this summer with 900+ horsepower under their hoods.
Rental rates remain to be revealed, but the star of the show is the Shelby GT500-H, a supercharged GT500 outfitted with a custom 5.2-liter Predator V8 engine dialed up to 912 PS (900 hp / 671 kW). The car boasts a ventilated carbon-fiber hood that weighs whole 30 lbs (13.5 kilograms) less than the stock part.
Hertz’s most powerful rental car of the summer also boasts golden stripes running along the body, forged wheels shod in performance tires, special badging all around, and a serial number plaque on the dash panel.
Shelby will be building 25 GT500-H examples, painting 19 of them in Shadow Black and the remaining 6 in Oxford White.
