An exotic car dealership is looking for buyers for this 2008 Shelby Mustang GT500 KR equipped with a powerful engine, manual transmission and an improved chassis. The asking price of $79,000 almost buys you a Shelby GT500 in the USA, but that’s beside the point.
The letters ‘KR’ stand for ‘King of the Road’ and refer to a particularly rare GT500 spec made in 2008. The production run is estimated at roughly 1,000 units. Each came powered by a 5.4-liter V8 boosted by a further 40 PS (40 hp / 30 kW) for a total of 547 PS (540 hp / 402 kW) and 691 Nm (510 lb-ft) of torque. In addition to this boost, all examples had stiffer suspension, lower ground clearance and tuned stability control software.
Shelby replaced some of the bodywork with carbon fiber, which made the sports car lighter by approximately 10 kilograms (22 pounds). This particular example only has 23 miles on the clock, and the seller does not clarify why it was never driven.
