Watch the Hennessey Venom 1200 burn rubber standing still and going full tilt

Hennessey has posted some footage from the tests of its extreme Shelby Mustang GT500 build ramped up to 1,221 PS (1,204 hp / 898 kW). Watch the two-minute-long video to see how adept the Venom 1200 is at burning tires and sprinting.

As you can see, apart from doing some impressive burnouts, the car actually continues spinning its tires during the test drive simply because of all the power going to the wheels.

The stock 5.2-liter cylinder block stays in place, but gets a more efficient turbo kit, improved injection and fuel system and more. The result amounts to the 1,200 horsepower mentioned above, as well as 1,223 Nm (902 lb-ft) of torque – more than the Bugatti Veyron can manage.

Unfortunately, we still haven’t heard from Hennessey regarding sprint times. As for the price, the upgrade alone costs $59,950. Only 66 units will be made.
