Ford has unveiled the new 2020 Puma, a compact crossover utility vehicle with a coupe-like body style. The car inherits its name from the SUV that the manufacturer used to produce between 1997 and 2002, and will have to compete against the Volkswagen T-Roc once it comes out.
Ford stresses that the car offers a whopping 456 liters (16.1 cubic feet) of trunk space, which is unusual for its size category. The company claims that the value is not incidental, but rather a result of studying the interests of potential customers, who wanted their car to be able to accommodate two golf bags put vertically next to each other.
Technical specs are mostly a matter of speculation right now. The company says the car will most likely ship as a mild hybrid based on a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder gas engine, a lithium-ion battery, and a starter-generator connected via a belt drive and capable of accumulating power. Its total performance is being estimated at 155 horsepower (116 kilowatts).
This teaser pic is the only existing image of the mini-SUV coupe so far. The model will celebrate its live show premiere before the end of 2019 and enter production in Romania.
