Ford Ranger veers away from the beaten path with the FX2 Package

The Ford Ranger pickup truck is now available with the optional FX2 Package. Curiously enough, the kit is only compatible with the RWD variant of the truck and not the AWD one.

Included are an electronic rear diff lock, special tires available in 17 and 18 inches, off-road suspension parts, under shields, improvements to the angle of approach, etc. Overall, the contents are similar to those of the FX4 package, expect that the latter is only available for the AWD version of the Ranger.

The entire kit costs $595 – admittedly, a steal, given the $24,300 price tag of the most basic Ranger.

In its simplest form, the car packs a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 274 hp (204 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque, mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission.
