South Wales police buys beefed-up Ford Focus ST & Ranger Raptor

The police of South Wales has acquired performance versions of the Ford Focus ST hatchback and Ranger Raptor pickup. The former will be useful on highways, whereas the latter will come in handy for patrolling rural areas with gravel roads.

Starting with the truck, it boasts flashing lights integrated into its radiator grille, a light rack on the roof, colorful body graphics, and some special equipment, such as a computer with the access to the centralized database. A twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine sits under the hood, churning out 213 hp (132 kW) along with 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels through a ten-speed auto transmission. The car also benefits from heavy-duty Fox shocks and hydraulic suspension springs with Watt’s linkages in the back.

The Ford Focus ST has the same livery and equipment and probably comes powered by the standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost gas engine rated at 280 hp (209 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is six-speed manual, the sprint time amounts to 5.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is capped at 250 km/h (155 mph).
