Media have gotten their hands on some spy pics of a next-gen Ranger pickup, and while the test vehicle is pretty much buried in camo, its upright F-150 headlights hint at what the main source of inspiration was.
Ford is co-developing its new Ranger together with Volkswagen’s Amarok pickup. The duo shares powertrains and chassis, so looks are going to be the main discriminating factor between them. Both should debut late this year, but won’t go on sale until 2023.
The current-gen Ranger (see video) had dropped from the U.S. market for a few years due to low demand. The upcoming generation should be available worldwide with region-specific engine availability. For North America, Ford will most likely offer a PHEV powertrain based on a 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder.
