Ford Ranger is officially a hybrid now, but only in Europe so far

Ford has officially revealed the world’s first Ranger with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It will go into production in late 2023 and reach the showrooms in Europe in early next year. It is unknown when (or whether) the USA or other markets may get something similar.

The system consists of a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, an electric motor and a rechargeable battery pack. Ford stays tight-lipped about specific numbers, saying only that the torque is higher than any other mass-produced Ranger model has. The all-electric driving range maxes out at 77 km (47.8 miles).

Another noteworthy feature of the new Ranger is called Pro Power Onboard. It adds power sockets to the truck bed that can be used to power all kinds of auxiliary equipment.
