The Ford S-Max seven-seater received its latest refresh in October 2019, and now gets another important update: a 2.5-liter gasoline engine supported by an electric motor.
The new powertrain produces 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) in hybrid mode. The traction battery is represented by a tiny lithium-ion unit rated at 1.1 kilowatt-hours. Despite the added performance, the bulky comfort-oriented MPV still takes 9.8 seconds for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint.
Galaxy, the S-Max’s commercial van sibling, is also now available with the same powertrain. It is a bit slower on the uptake, but makes up for that with all the cargo carrying capacity.
