Ford has revealed the 2019 facelift of its Custom Sport van. The car will ship in mid-year equipped with a 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine boosted to 185 hp (138 kW) and 415 Nm (306 lbft) of torque. Transmission choices will be limited to six-speed manual and automatic.
According to the company, the refreshed Ford Transit Custom Sport benefits from numerous chassis improvements, as well as better standard equipment. The latter now includes parking assist, lane control, blind spot monitor, and the FordPass Connect feature that can turn your car into a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices and also enables you to access certain car functions from your mobile device.
In terms of purely visual enhancements, the van has a sporty body kit encompassing new bumpers, wheel arch extensions, mirror caps and door handles that are now painted to match the rest of the body. There dual pinstripes decorating its exterior, and it ships with a choice between 17-inch and 18-inch wheels.
The interior of the Ford Transit Custom Sport uses combo leather upholstery.
Customers will be able to select from three main interior layouts for the vehicle, including utility van, passenger bus and commercial van (Crew Cab included).
Ford has two other, more affordable models in its sported-up van family, namely, the Transit Connect Sport and the Transit Courier Sport. The latter has been around for a while and ships with a six-speed manual gearbox mated either to a 1.0-liter, 100-hp / 75-kW EcoBoost gas engine or a 1.5-liter TDCi diesel with the same power rating. The Connect Sport has only recently entered the market in Europe and comes equipped with the same six-speed manual transmission partnered to a tweaked diesel engine producing 120 hp / 90 kW.
