Ken Block, a famous North American racing driver and tuner famous for his crazy custom builds, has commissioned Galpin Auto Sports to provide him with a couple of support vans for the Cossie World Tour. A while later, the firm rolled out these two Ford Transit vans remodeled into mobile, off-road capable car repair stations.
Both Transits now sport matte-black liveries with blue stripes, which corresponds to the colors of Ken’s main rally car, the Group A Escort Cosworth V2 (Cossie V2 for friends).
Packing an AWD system, a suspension lift kit and an engine churning out healthy 310 hp (231 kW), each van comes well prepared to brave the challenges of cross-country roads.
The interiors of both cars house everything necessary to repair virtually any part of the rally car straight in the field. The more exotic tools and spare parts are stowed away in the roof boxes.
All of the above may be well and good, but it has to be noted that support vans were particularly popular a few decades ago. In modern rally championships, participants are required to visit specially designated service areas from time to time, so there is little need for field repairs. But then again, if Ken feels like it, why not just let him have it his way, right?
