Ford crashes SEMA party with racing and track-shod variants of its Transit van

Ford will be unveiling several dozen of new cars and concepts at the SEMA show, including these two unhinged Transit vans.

The first one, called the Polvoorde Racing/Outside Van, can accommodate up to four passengers along with their boats or bikes. Note the tracks it has instead of wheels.

The other one is dubbed SpeedVegas and represents a long-wheelbase van with a raised roof and 12 passenger seats. Despite this, it has primarily been envisaged as a racing vehicle, evidenced by the added AWD system, suspension lowering kit, Brembo brakes, Weld Racing wheels, MOMO tires and bucket seats, a custom front bumper, and assorted racing-themed decals. Nothing is being revealed about the powertrain, but the North American version of the Transit usually packs a rather capable 3.5-liter V6 engine with 314 hp (234 kW) and 542 Nm (400 pound-feet) of torque.

This won’t be the first time the Transit gets redesigned like this, and competitors have been known to release similar projects before (see the Hyundai iMax N Drift Bus, for example). That said, Ford intends to use its crazy van for delivering people to the SpeedVegas Raceway. The track is 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles) long and has 12 turns. Aside from the van, guests may select from a wide variety of vehicles, ranging from sports cars to all-roaders and dune buggies (there is even a dedicated 2.3-km / 1.43-mile long off-road track present for the latter two categories).
