Ford to launch the E-Transit this summer starting from U.S. $43,295

Electric commercial vans are shaping up to be an attractive delivery solution for many businesses, and Ford’s new E-Transit will soon be available to pre-order through a dedicated website.

The base specification starts from U.S. $43,295. Choosing a higher roof and an extended wheelbase ramps up the price to $52,690, but remember that the van is eligible for a federal tax deduction to the tune of $7,500. Add whichever benefits may apply in your state, and you may end up with a rather tempting offer.

Orders will not begin shipping until July, but with over 450 companies already expressing interest in the E-Transit, it could stay on a backorder for a while. Various trim levels will be available, but the powertrain will be the same in all cases. It will include a single electric motor rated at 266 PS (262 hp / 196 kW) and 429 Nm (316 lb-ft) of torque and a traction battery rated at 67 kilowatt-hours.
