The Skala Aero is an affordable RV with plenty of practical features

Skala Conversions continues proving to us that even smaller vans can be efficiently turned into nice motorhomes. Their latest project, Aero, uses a Ford Transit Crew Cab chassis to that effect.

The van transports up to five passengers with safety belts and even airbags provided for everyone, but only has three beds. You can easily dismantle the seats if you need to transport something large inside the cabin.

Modern niceties include a kitchenette that can be configured for easier inside or outside access, a turning table, a spacious fridge, a microwave, and a sink with hot and cold water. There is also a small, yet functional shower cabin, as well as plenty of storage opportunities for everything needed on a long road trip.

A lithium-ion battery array rated at 315 Ampere-hours provides power for the water heaters, an air conditioner, a ceiling-mounted fan, and five power sockets on board, as well as three USB ports.

Building a Scala Aero out of a regular Ford Transit costs $55,000, which is considerably less than most such conversions are sold for.
