Winnebago has decided to demonstrate what its battery-powered e-RV is capable of by making a trip from Washington D.C. to Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
The route was 1,380 miles (2,221 kilometers) long and took 26 hours of driving with the average speed close to 53 mph (85 km/h). The company spent $275 on multiple charge-ups along the way. Had the camper burned gas instead (assuming $5 rate), it would have burned through $690.
The Winnebago e-RV Concept debuted in January this year based on a modified Ford Transit chassis offering around 201 km (125 miles) of electric range. It comes packed with camping-friendly features including a kitchen, a bathroom and a water boiler. The interior largely uses eco-friendly materials for the fit and finish. Despite being technically a design study, the Winnebago e-RV will lend some of its tech to future production models, the company says.
