Meet the Winnebago eRV2, an all-electric motorhome

Winnebago has come to the Florida RV SuperShow with what it called the eRV2, a conceptual all-electric home on wheels. The company said people willing to test it out could do so and leave their feedback so that the production version could be even better.

The one-off prototype uses the Ford Transit as a starting point. It comes wrapped in a livery depicting various North American landscapes and possible RV applications. The magic begins inside, where every single appliance runs on electric power not provided by any gas or diesel generators (there are none on board). The 15-kWh battery that provides the juice gets it from a solar panel array on the roof.

Winnebago reckons that the Transit has enough power on board to sustain a family of two for seven days in the wilderness – but only as long as there are four hours of sunlight every day. There is also no climate control on board – neither an AC nor a heat fan. There is a regular fan that could help spend the night, as well as a shower cabin, a fully featured kitchen and a fridge.
