Unfinished Ford Transit monster truck up for grabs in the UK

The owner of this used Ford Transit commercial van did not want to scrap it and instead decided to turn it into the ultimate off-roader. The project hit a snag somewhere along the way, though, and the half-done conversion is now being sold for a fixed price of £5,000 (around $6,200).

The body of the van rests on a special ladder frame with leaf-spring suspension and abundant ground clearance. The whole thing is 3,353 mm (11 feet) tall and 2,438 mm (8 feet) wide, so it is a poor fit for road driving.

For heavy off-roading, on the other hand, the improvised monster truck seems fairly well equipped with its giant tires and restored 6.5-liter V8 mated to an A/T and AWD. The power is not specified, but should be enough for all terrain types.

Whoever buys the project vehicle will have to repair the driveshaft, the brake lines, the radiator tubes and the steering column, among other possible issues. The situation is made tricky by the fact that the current seller of the car is not its original owner and lacks full project documentation. Perhaps this need to improvise is why it is now being sold for such a modest sum.
