China’s Amazon working on an EV

JD.com, a Chinese online marketplace so vast that it’s often called the country’s equal of Amazon, has formally announced developing its first-ever electric car with the help of CATL and GAC groups. It will debut at a dedicated event scheduled for November 11, 2025.

All technical details remain undisclosed. The car itself remains to be shown, but the first teaser pic makes it look like a sedan or possibly a liftback. The corporation says it will be a wallet-friendly “people’s car” that will go on sale exclusively on JD.com to save on dealership fees. The company pledges to provide maintenance and study the customers’ interests, while all production will be handled by GAC.

Right now, it’s hard to say whether the EV will be a completely original development or something we’ve seen before. Our best guess is that it may end up based on the GAC Aion platform, sharing most of its powertrain components and tech with the existing Aion car lineup.
