Video: Watch a China-made hypercar drift and tear its way through Guangzhou

The Chinese team of racing enthusiasts from Updrift has filmed another video paying tribute to the famous Gymkhana show. Whereas the first episode starred a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, the new one shines a spotlight on the recently introduced GAC Hyptec SSR.

The video is 11 and a half minutes long and shows Jason Ye piloting his 1,224-PS (1,207-hp / 900-kW) coupe around Guangzhou. As he finds his way through the streets, Ye kicks footballs into nets using his car’s fenders, puts up an impromptu street show and cooks up some major drift donuts in an encirclement of large SUVs. There are also cameos from some unexpected vehicles, like the Chrysler 300C and even the Toyota AE86.

The same car and driver made their way into the Guinness Book of Records a few weeks ago for the world’s fastest EV drift slide (213.523 km/h, or 132.7 mph).
