The second-generation GAC Aion V crossover is now available on its domestic market in seven different trims priced from 129,800 Yuan.
The car is sized 4,605 x 1,854 x 1,660 mm (179.9 x 72.4 x 64.9 inches) large with 2,775 mm (108.4 inches) of wheelbase. The trunk size starts at 427 liters (15.08 cubic feet) and goes up to 987 l (34.86 cu. ft.) with the seats folded down.
There are two motor options to choose from – one rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and the other one at 224 PS (221 hp / 165 kW). Both produce identical 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque. There are no dual-motor/AWD configurations on the list right now, and opting for the stronger out of the two available units gives you a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 7.9 seconds. Depending on battery size and power consumption, GAC promises electric ranges varying from 520 to 750 km (323–466 miles).
Later on, the company plans to introduce a special version of the Aion V capable of fast-swapping its battery at dedicated stations. This isn’t to say that the standard lineup takes too long to charge up: the manufacturer promises 370 km (230 miles) of range for just 15 minutes of waiting.
Trim-wise, there are new 19-inch wheels, an infotainment system with a 14.5-inch display, two wireless charging pads and an armrest box capable of cooling its contents down to –15°C (+5°F) or heating them up to +50°C (122 °F). The higher trims also take advantage of a self-driving system incorporating a LiDAR, 11 cameras and 12 radars.
