GAC Trumpchi keeps unveiling its hybrid minivan named Е8 little by little. The latest batch of images shows an interior almost devoid of mechanical buttons and a tiny joystick for drive mode selection.
The interior is trimmed in black and brown with lots of chrome highlights throughout. The gauges are digital, there is a large infotainment display in the middle and wireless phone charging pads, and no physical controls in sight. The first two rows come with separate, power-adjustable seats sporting ‘aviation-grade’ headrests with lateral support. The third row is represented by a rather basic-looking sofa. There is a drowsiness alert system on board, too: notice the camera on the left a-pillar.
Rumor has it that the GAC Trumpchi Е8 will be a range-extender hybrid, utilizing a 1.8-liter or 2.0-liter petrol engine to charge its 25.6-kWh main battery on the go. That said, a fully electric version is also possible.
The first exterior shots were posted in late summer. The minivan is 4,920 mm (192.2 inches) long with a roof that seems to float in the air due to black pillars, lending it a lighter, more aerodynamic appearance. Both the headlights and the taillights are connected with solid LED stripes.
