Geely has uploaded the first photos showing its new VF12 SUV to the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Trade. The company expects it to become a worthy rival to the Toyota Highlander once it arrives to the dealers across China.
The ‘VF12’ corresponds to a provisional model name that may change later. According to the specs submitted to the database, the car itself is 4,835 mm (15.86 ft.) long, 1,900 mm (6.23 mm) wide and 1,780 mm (5.84 ft.) tall. Its wheelbase spans 2,815 mm (9.24 ft.), which is similar to what the Highlander comes with (2,790 mm / 9.15 ft.).
Rumor has it the vehicle will ship with a choice between a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine from Volvo rated at 177 hp (132 kW) and Geely’s own 1.8-liter unit packing 184 hp (137 kW). The weaker of the two is likely to come linked to a seven-speed DCT transmission, while the stronger one will probably take advantage of a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The manufacturer says that the new SUV will ship in a few months equippable with a rear view camera, matrix LED lighting, and a panoramic glass roof.
