Geely unveils Tesla Semi rival

Farizon Auto, the cargo vehicle subdivision of Geely, has unveiled a new semi-truck called the Homtruck, merging the words ‘home’ and ‘truck’ to get across the idea of a truck cab design well suited to living on the road. Sales should begin in three years.

The newcomer boasts a rather interesting exterior design with an unusual front grille and intricate lighting arrangement. A low-drag trailer attachment has already been designed for it as well.

Long-haul drivers will know to appreciate the level of comfort provided by their car, Geely claims. Found inside the cab are a bed for one person, a kitchen with assorted electric appliances, a fridge, a WC, a shower, and a mini-washing machine. As the launch draws nearer, the Homtruck will even receive a voice assistance feature and a HUD.

Elsewhere, the high-tech semi will sport video cameras all around, driver drowsiness alert, and semi-autonomous driving services using lidars, ultrasonic sensors and other systems for the car to go safely unattended most of the time.

The Homtruck network will enable trucks to share data with each other, connect to cloud services, and always select the best routes using up-to-date navigation data.

No specifics are being revealed about the drivetrain, though. Farizon Auto says there will be multiple eco-friendly choices to go for, including range-extender, methanol/electric and all-electric. The latter will support quick battery swap for greater efficiency.
