Geely unveils a cab-free autonomous semi and a modular van

Geely’s Farizon Auto subdivision specializing in commercial transports has unveiled two concepts: HomTruck, a semi without a driver’s cab, and SuperVan, a car you will be able to customize according to your needs.

Starting with the semi, it is an evolution of a same-name project revealed last year (see video). Unlike that one, the new version lacks any kind of driver’s cab or controls. Farizon believes that the vehicle – which is reportedly capable of Level 4 self-driving – can be used indoors in warehouses and industrial spaces, as well as in mines.

The company revealed nothing about the technical side of things, highlighting only that the HomTruck has plenty of radars, cameras and sensors to rely on. The tests will commence in multiple ports across China next year.

As for the SuperVan, it comes built on the GMA modular platform and features a skateboard chassis independent from the body. This innovation enables owners to purchase multiple bodies for their car and switch between them when needed, saving money on buying and keeping multiple vehicles at once. The manufacturer promises to make use of biodegradable and recycled materials in production.

Once again, there are no technical specifications at this point. All we know is that Farizon plans to sell the SuperVan worldwide starting in a few years.
