Geely-owned brands JLR, Lotus, Polestar and Volvo have joined forces with JLR (formerly known as Jaguar Land Rover) to create a new alliance on the Chinese Market. Automotive News Europe points out that the main goal of the new corporation is working on EV battery charging technologies.
Commenting on the deal, Polestar said the companies would be sharing resources with each other and work on solutions to help EV drivers replenish more range in less time. A new charging standard is also going to be developed specifically for luxury EVs.
A similar union was formed in China last month when BMW Brilliance Automotive and Mercedes-Benz Group China – the local subsidiaries of the German companies – teamed up to launch a new charging station network, advertised as a ‘premium service’ for all EV owners.
