Geely Galaxy Cruiser underway to China’s market

Geely Auto has complemented its zero-emission Galaxy lineup with a new SUV called the Cruiser. It debuted at the Auto Shanghai show and currently doesn’t have a launch date.

The technical details are also scarce at best. It’s a boxy enough off-roader touted by the company as a “technologically advanced” vehicle with an “AI-powered smart AWD system.” The target audience is everyone with active leisure on their list of hobbies, especially mountain trips. To stay maneuverable up there, the Cruiser has short overhangs and comes with a spare wheel on the tailgate. It also features a standard roof rack with a handy access ladder.

Geely’s GVMC dynamic control system lets the SUV pass the moose test at an impressive 80 km/h (50 mph), the automaker claims. It can also move sideways (pioneered by GMC as the Crab Mode) and do a 360-degree standing turn (introduced by Rivian as the Tank Turn). It can even attempt to automatically drive around trail obstacles and wade water up to 800 mm (27 inches) deep. A satellite link system is also included as part of the standard equipment.
