The Chinese automotive enterprise Geely has finally revealed non-camouflaged and apparently unedited photos of its upcoming coupe-like sedan model. High time, too: the car enters the market in fall 2018.
A week or so ago some more teaser pics became available, showing the car wearing a badge saying “A06”. At the same time, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and IT lists it in its database as “Emgrand SL”. We won’t know until the sales launch what the name of the car really is, even though Emgrand SL does sound pretty realistic.
The exterior of the vehicle has been partly inspired by the flagship Geely Borui. A source claiming inside knowledge of the company’s affairs reported some time ago that it would be 4,680 mm (15.35 ft) long and 1,785 mm (5.85 ft) wide. It is also likely, but unconfirmed, that the Emgrand SL will utilize the new Geely car platform.
It is official, though, that the engine lineup will consist of two turbocharged gasoline engines, a 1.0L and a 1.4L. Both are pretty much equal in terms of performance: the former is reported to have 133 hp / 100 kW, while the latter commands 136 hp / 101.5 kW. Transmission options remain unknown.
The business of Geely Automobile has been thriving lately. China’s largest car manufacturer introduced several model updates on the domestic market this year. The list of refreshed models includes the Emgrand GS, the Boyue, the Vision X6, and the hybrid versions of Borui.
Geely expects to reveal a new cross-coupe and a compact van until the end of the year.
