Following a series of announcements, Geely has finally revealed its new coupe-like sedan model, the SL. The newcomer will occupy a market niche between the GL and the Borui.
The interior design looks inspired by the flagship Geely Borui sedan. The SL is 4,680 mm (15 1/3 ft.) long, 1,785 mm (5 7/8 ft.) wide, 1,460 mm (4 4/5 ft.) tall and has a 2,670 mm (8 3/4 ft.) wheelbase.
Some technical details about the car appeared a while ago in the online database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and IT. Apparently, it will ship with a choice between two turbocharged gasoline engines 1.0 and 1.4 liters large. Their performance is reported as 133 and 136 hp (99 – 101 kW), respectively. The company has neither confirmed nor disproved the information to date.
On its home market in China, the new Geely SL will be sold under the model name of Binrui. Sales will start in 3Q 2018. Other markets throughout the world will get in one or two years after the domestic release.
The prices are still being kept secret, but since the Geely GL sells for U.S. $12,000 and the Geely Borui for $18,000, it is logical to assume that the SL will start at somewhere around $14,000.
