Chinese automotive manufacturer Geely has recently revealed several photos of its first vehicle to take advantage of a new, privately developed architecture called the BMA.
The prototype crossover/SUV has been given the provisional name of SX11 and should celebrate its official premiere before the end of the year.
Even though BMA is marketed as Geely’s independent development, it still bears some resemblance to the Volvo’s CMA architecture. According to the Chinese company, BMA may well prove versatile enough to become global. This means that it may be used equally well for the production of sedans, estate cars, crossovers, SUVs and MPVs equipped with either turbocharged engines 1 to 1.5 liters large or hybrid drivetrains.
As for the SX11 SUV, the vehicle is getting a 1.5-liter engine rated at 180 hp (134 kW) and coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission. Another option is a humbler 1.0-liter engine working in conjunction with an IVT.
The premiere date and pricing range haven’t been revealed yet.
