Despite the latest facelift of the Geely Emgrand 7 dating back to only a year and a half ago, the Chinese car manufacturer apparently sees enough room for improvement in the car to warrant another update.
The 2019 facelift of the sedan/saloon series brings along a new radiator grille and bumpers, but most of the novelty resides inside this time around.
Open the door, and you will be greeted by a modern infotainment system with an eight-inch display. The multimedia box has many extended features, such as remote control support and smartphone connectivity. The car also boats a new steering wheel, an in-built dash camera, and an all-digital dashboard with enhanced graphics.
Powering the 2019 Geely Emgrand 7 is a 1.5-liter gasoline engine boosted to 109 horsepower (81 kW). You can choose between a five-speed manual transmission and CVT. The 1.4-liter turbo version is no longer available.
As for the Geely Emgrand GL, it gets an update similar to that of the Emgrand GS hatchback/SUV. The 2019 facelift ships with an assortment of new electronic driver aids: automatic emergency brake (AEB), adaptive cruise control, lane control, automatic high/low beam, traffic sign recognition, and pedestrian detection.
The Geely Emgrand GL will arrive in the showrooms across China equipped with a new 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine rated at 177 hp (132 kW), which links to a seven-speed DSG. A hybrid version based on a 190-hp (142-kW) engine assisted by a 48V starter-generator will also be available. Aside from that, the car will still ship with the old engine duo: the 1.4T and the 1.8 (both rated at 133 hp / 99 kW).
Sales in China begin in a few weeks.
