A new sedan series named Geely Emgrand SL and meant for the international market has recently debuted in China. Its domestic variant will be called “Geely Binrui”.
The vehicle has been assigned the C+ class, which should mean that its dimensions are practically identical to those of the Toyota Corolla and the Volkswagen Jetta.
On the outside, the Emgrand SL appears to have the same overall style as the Emgrand GT / Borui. But while the latter takes advantage of a high-end chassis design, the former inherits its simpler platform from the old Toyota Corolla.
The interior of the compact sedan features a digital dashboard, a frameless rear view mirror, a multimedia with a 10.25-inch touchscreen display, and a single-zone climate control.
Higher trim levels offer imitation leather finishing, front power seats, adaptive cruise control, a panoramic roof, a rear view camera and exclusive 17-inch wheels.
The new Geely Emgrand SL will ship with a choice between two turbocharged engines, the basic one being capable of 136 hp (101 kW) and the better of the two outputting 133 hp (99 kW). The former will ship with a manual transmission, and the latter will only be available with an IVT.
Sales in China begin in a month and a half from this date. International shipments will start later.
