Geely has announced the pricing for the third car from its Galaxy lineup – an all-electric sedan called the E8. It is advertised as the biggest four-door Galaxy-series EV that can nonetheless sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds and cover up to 665 km (413 miles) on a charge. The starting price is 175,800 Yuan, AutoHome.cn reports.
The bulky saloon is sized 5,010 x 1,920 x 1,465 millimeters (195.7 x 75 x 57.3 inches) large with 2,925 mm (114.3 inches) of space between axles. The biggest interior feature is a 450inch OLED display on the dash that supports 8K resolution and combines the instrument cluster with the infotainment system. The company claims that the entire screen is solid and seamless, rather than merged from multiple matrices like in some other cars. Judging by the images, it could be partitioned in two or three sections when needed – for instance, you could play video games on it when parked.
From the technological standpoint, the Galaxy E8 utilizes the same SEA chassis as the company’s other recent EVs. In its most basic form, it packs a 62-kWh battery and a single motor rated at 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW). This version needs 5.95 seconds for the sprint and goes 550 km (342 miles) on a charge. Optioning it with a larger 76-kWh battery extends the range to the 665 km mentioned above.
Those in the market for a FWD saloon will be choosing from just two trim levels, while those going for the 228,800-Yuan dual-motor flagship will automatically get the third, best trim level. In this guise, the car pushes 645 PS (636 hp / 474 kW) to all four wheels and comes bundled with the larger 76-kWh battery option. Even so, its range is capped at 620 km (385 miles) due to higher energy consumption.
