Reports: Geely working on an affordable Geometry EV

Geometry, an electric sub-brand of Geely, is designing an electric crossover with ‘stylish design, compact dimensions and moderate power’, AutoHome reports citing sources in the Chinese Ministry of Industry.

Everything in the description hints that the car is going to be wallet-friendly in comparison to most. The early patent renderings seen here reveal a rather atypical Geely vehicle with very slim headlights, an unusual front bumper and heavily recessed DRLs. The rear end is also quite novel with its integrated spoiler and boomerang-shaped taillights.

A number of vivid accents suggest marketing towards younger audiences. These include contrast-rich bumper details, door handles, mirrors and c-pillars, to name just a few. Customers will reportedly be able to order a contrast roof, too.

Rear end renderings reveal a badge saying ‘X Tiger’; perhaps this is what the car will be called. We should be able to learn more during the Beijing Expo in March.

Geely founded the Geometry badge for premium EVs three years ago. The company aims to have at least 10 vehicles on its lineup by mid-decade. China will remain its key market for the time being, but exporting is not out of the question, according to executives.
