Jiyue 01 gets an extended-range version

Jiyue, a Chinese car brand co-founded between Geely and Baidu, has launched a new variant of its first production car, the 01 SUV. It is called Max Long Range and covers up to 720 km (447 miles) per the CLTC standard. Prices start from 249,900 CNY, or 35,200 USD.

The entry-level spec that’s already on sale is called “01 Max” and offers up to 550 km (342 miles) of range. It uses a single electric motor at the rear axle to drive it with 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 343 Nm (253 lb-ft) of torque. The Max Long Range version gets the exact same powertrain, but bumps up the battery size from 71.4 to 100 kilowatt-hours.

Those interested in a sportier experience may consider the 01 Max Performance AWD, which sends 544 PS (536 hp / 400 kW) to all four wheels and uses the bigger battery of the two. Its higher power consumption still means it can’t do more than 660 km (410 miles) per charge.

As far as sprint times are concerned, the Jiyue 01 Max needs 7.2 seconds to launch. The Long Range version manages it in 6.9 seconds, and the AWD version reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in a trifling 3.8 seconds.

Both the 01 Max and the 01 Max Performance have been on sale in China since last fall. They had started from 249,900 and 339,900 Yuan, respectively (that’s $34,500 and $46,900), but the company slashed all prices by 30,000 Yuan ($4,100) after just four weeks. The new 01 Max Long Range spec slots neatly in between these price points.
