Geely unveils a 390-PS hybrid saloon

Geely has shared some official photos of a new luxury sedan called Xingrui L Shuangqing in China and Preface L in its export version. Autohome.cn claims the premiere will take place later this October, but thanks to earlier patent applications, we already know some of its technical specifications.

Contrary to what you may think, the new car has little to do with the current-gen Preface (see video), which came out three years ago and received a facelift in 2022. It is much larger and more expensive than that car at 4,825 mm long, 1880 mm wide and 1,469 mm tall (inches: 188.5 x 73.5 x 57.4). The wheelbase spans 2.8 meters (109.4 in). The underlying platform is Volvo’s CMA.

The letter ‘L’ in the model suffix has multiple meaning at once - Luxury, Liberate, Liquid and Less, Geely says. These translate into (in that order) a premium look and feel, freedom of movement, fluid body outlines, and high fuel efficiency.

The interior design evokes associations with Geely’s other four-door vehicle, the Galaxy G6. The similarities extend as far as the dashboard, the instrument cluster, the vertical infotainment display and the transmission tunnel. Shifting is done via a single stalk at the steering column, and hardware buttons are barely present.

The powertrain is called NordThor and is based on a 1.5-liter IC engine with 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW). The peak power output amounts to a cool 390 PS (385 hp / 287 kW). The fuel consumption averages 4.22 liters per 100 km (a touch above 55 MPG).
