Geely Xingyue L to get a part-electric powertrain

The Chinese Ministry of Industry has shared two new patent shots of the upcoming Geely Xingyue L. The design changes are meant to highlight the eco-friendly nature of the car, which will be available in a hybrid form.

This version sports a special radiator grille with a cellular ornament matching the main body color. The standard Xingyue model (shown in the rest of the photos and the video) has a more traditional grille with chromed vertical bars. The hybrid also has decorative trim panels where air intakes usually are.

The wheels and the body finish are also new, and the tailgate has two hatches in it – one for petrol, the other one for an electric cord. Detailed specifications remain to be revealed, though.

According to AutoHome, the long-wheelbase Geely Xingyue will likely utilize a 1.5-liter turbo engine and a single electric motor jointly rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW). In late 2021, the company announced pricing for another hybrid spec with 40 extra hp, but didn’t mention this new spec. The non-hybrid variants on the market right now use a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine and make either 218 or 238 PS (215 or 235 hp; 160 or 175 kW, respectively). Since the new hybrid is the least powerful of them all, it might end up being the most affordable, too.

We should learn more in the fourth quarter of the year.
