The premium vehicle manufacturer has crafted a virtual car for the latest Gran Turismo game. However, unlike most carmakers who only produce 3D models and call it a day, Genesis has actually built a life-size mockup of the car and exhibited it at the GT World Series Finals in Barcelona, Spain.
The prototype racer is called Genesis X Gran Berlinetta. It is a coupe with a long nose and roof, the latter looking like it is made completely out of glass. The exterior is finished in vivid orange, and the front end sports the company’s trademark DRL stripes.
Abundant air intakes go along well with the striking exterior of the car, as does the spoiler at the back. It is curved to create an oval shape together with the rear bumper and the side shrouds. The drag ratio is stated to be 0.34. The wheels are downright gigantic for the car and feature centerlock mounts.
Inside, the driver gets a steering yoke with tilted side elements, as well as a panoramic display that outputs all track-relevant data and simultaneously expands the field of view. The seats wear a leather trim with the same stitching patterns as some road-legal GT-class luxury cars have.
Powering the hybrid supercar is an engine known as Lambda V6 and an electric motor called Yasa E. The former delivers 882 PS (870 hp / 650 kW) along with 1,071 Nm (790 lb-ft) of peak torque and can rev up to 10,000 RPM. The latter contributes another 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 266 Nm (196 lb-ft) of torque. The combined peak output amounts to 1,086 PS (1,071 hp / 800 kW).
