Carmaker Genesis is getting ready for its EU debut, with the UK, Germany and Switzerland set to receive the first cars next month -Â but you will need to order yours online, because there will be no showrooms.
The G80 sedan and the GV80 crossover SUV will be the first to hit the market with certain region-specific adaptations. The company says it had tested its vehicles on the Nürburgring before production. The G70 sedan and the GV70 SUV will follow shortly thereafter, and an unnamed new model created specifically for Europe should emerge later still. Allegedly, it will be an estate/wagon version of the G70.
Moreover, the company promises to unveil as many as three battery EVs for Europe later this year. One of these will obviously be the Electrified G80 shown not long ago (see video), while the other two remain mysterious. All we know is that one of these will benefit from a dedicated EV platform, likely the same as the one used by the GV60 and the GV70e.
As to why Genesis enters the markets throughout Europe as late as this, the company offers a logical explanation. Apparently, its early lineup consisted mainly of sedans, whereas customers in Europe favored SUVs, and there were no electrified models to compete with the German trio.
