The upcoming Genesis eG80 will be Hyundai Group’s first model on the market to support Tesla-like over-the-air (OTA) updates. The business sedan will be able to update its infotainment software, as well as the engine and battery control units.
In theory, OTA support will enable Hyundai to fix possible errors, improve self-driving performance, extend range and even raise effective engine power. The company says it will put an emphasis on protecting the wireless connection from all kinds of unauthorized access.
According to preliminary data, the all-electric Genesis G80 utilizes a new technological platform and has 500 kilometers (310 miles) of range. The production car should hit the market in two years’ time.
