Hyundai’s premium subdivision, Genesis, says the GV70 model will receive a biometric ID-based authentication system along with enhancements to its Rear Occupant Alert system that keeps track of people, kids and animals left on the back seats.
A new fingerprint scanner will be located right under the engine start button and will enable automatic connection to the Genesis CarPay service, enabling one-touch payment for parking and refueling. The driver will be able to touch the scanner to launch the engine or activate personalized settings, such as the HUD position, steering wheel and seat settings. Reloading the last navigation route and adjusting music volume will also be possible via this touch panel.
In turn, the Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) system that keeps an eye out on the rear bank occupants now has the suffix “Advanced”. Its new radar device now tracks not only legs and arms, but also chest areas of the passengers, i.e. telling the driver whether the baby is asleep or awake. It can also recognize and track pets.
The Genesis GV70 debuted a month ago in two versions: Standard and Sport. Both received an original interior and three powertrains to choose from: 2.5L gas, 3.5L gas and 2.2L turbo diesel. In all three cases, an eight-speed automatic transmission is tasked with delivering the power to the wheels. The drive can be on the rear wheels or all four.
