Genesis, a premium car brand controlled by Hyundai, is getting its first crossover SUV ready to rumble. It is now official that the GV80 will ship with three turbocharged powertrains to choose from.
The first one is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit rated at approximately 280 hp (210 kW). The second one is a 3.5-liter V6 reportedly good for 380 hp (283 kW) or so. The last one is a 3.0-liter turbo diesel also rated close to 280 hp (210 kW). All three operate in tandem with the company’s latest wet-clutch eight-speed automatic transmission. The GV80 will be the first mass-produced model to benefit from this transmission design, followed by the new G80 sedan/saloon.
Genesis has already shown us an early concept version of its first crossover. Later on, car spotters have repeatedly seen test mules on the streets.
