Video: New Genesis SUV flashes its lights (in both senses)

It will not be much longer until Genesis finally unveils the GV80, its first SUV. Car spotters have repeatedly sighted it running one Nürburgring lap after another, and today it has finally shed the camo covering the lighting.

Watch the video to see the originally styled two-tier headlights and brake lights, as well as another brake light in the middle of the rear end. Don’t ask us why the lights are rapidly blinking; we suspect some kind of trouble with the on-board electric system, perhaps something that Genesis came to the Nürburgring to troubleshoot, among other things.

When the SUV finally reaches production, it will no longer have video cameras instead of side mirrors, slide-out door handles or other fancy features characteristic exclusively of concept cars.

Soon after the GV80 hits the market, its smaller sibling – the GV70 – will debut as well. The Korean premium marque hopes to boost sales with these two models – and it likely will, given that the SUV segment is at its most popular right now.
